Collecting Information About You
In general, you can visit many of our web pages on the Web site without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. There may be times (such as when you email us, use our online forums, make a donation etc.), at which we ask you to provide personal information. If you register to become a donor, we require that you provide certain personally identifiable information including your name, address, phone number and credit card number. We need this information to process your donation and to contact you in connection with that donation.
In addition to the information that you choose to provide to us through the Web site, we may also collect certain non-personally identifiable information, such as the number and frequency of visitors to our Web site, the type of Internet browser you are using, the domain name of your Internet service provider and your Internet Protocol address. We may use such data to record and analyze usage information and to otherwise improve our Web site.
Using Information About You
When you provide us with personally identifiable information, you acknowledge that we may use it to keep our donor registration current, to respond to your inquiries about our offerings and to inform you of news and events, services and offers, providing you with information about The Freshman Fifteen, or in any other manner that we deem necessary or desirable to enhance your experience with the Web site and related products and services. If you provide us with your e-mail address, we may send you information or newsletters about news, new features and additions, and changes to our Web site. If you provide us with your e-mail address but subsequently decide that you do not wish to receive certain e-mails, you may click the “unsubscribe” button at the bottom of such e-mails.
Sharing Information About You
The Freshman Fifteen will not sell, rent or lease your personally identifiable information to others. Unless The Freshman Fifteen has your permission or is required by law, the personal information you provide us online will be shared only with companies or persons that provide us with certain services including credit card processing, data management, promotional services, etc. We provide these service providers with the information needed for them to perform these services. We also ask our service providers to confirm that their privacy practices are consistent with ours.
Editing, Updating, Correcting and Deleting Information About You
We want to communicate with you only if you want to hear from us. If you prefer not to receive information from us, please let us know by sending us an e-mail. Please be sure to include your e-mail address, full name, and specifically what information you do not want to receive. If you would like to update or correct your e-mail address, street address or other personal information with us please contact us the same way. Please note that sometimes these requests may take up to 6-8 weeks to be effective, particularly if we are removing your name from postal mailings.
We use encryption and authentication tools to protect the security of your personal information that you share with us. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you transmit to or from our Web site, and you do so at your own risk.
